Born on January 10, 2043 on a cotton farm at Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A., under the name of Magnolia Jones, Melody was the "misfit" of the family. Having four elder brothers, she grew up a "tomboy", playing and thinking like a boy. Often playing truant with her brothers, Melody wasn't brilliant at school. She therefore left school at 15 to take up professional motor racing, a sport she really excelled in.

Her parents then decided it was time Melody became a "lady" and packed her off to a Swiss finishing school. Melody hated the idea, until she found she was allowed to fly. Flying became a passion, and after being expelled for unruly behaviour, Melody joined the World Army Air Force.

She loved the Air Force life, and trained as a test pilot. Her amazing courage and nerves of iron soon made her the most brilliant test pilot in the W.A.A.F. During the memorable test flight of the XKF 115, base control lost radio contact somewhere over the South Sea Islands and Melody was feared dead.

The search for her lasted three weeks then all hope was lost. Suddenly a year later she appeared again having built up her own plane from the salvaged wrecked test craft.

After this incident Melody left the World Army Air Force to concentrate purely on flying. Backed by money given to her by her father, she set up a freelance flying-taxi service aimed at luxury inter-city flights for business executives.

Her amazing determination and flying ability was soon noticed by Spectrum. They approached her and she eagerly accepted the challenge of becoming an Angel.

Melody on duty is a pillar of strength, tough and full of determination, giving encouragement to the other Angels in difficult operations. Off duty, her strong personality makes her the leader among friends. Her favourite hobby is learning languages. At the moment she is trying to master Japanese.
